Severin had learned the stoicism of Abel and caught Miss Davis glancing at her watch. He moved closer to her dropping his voice. "You know there is no way out of there if they don't come to an agreement." The entire staff was exmilitary and a trained operative. The security was tighter than if the president were on-site. All answering either directly or indirectly to Samuel. He moved they would as well.
He was still fairly new to all of this though his experience in the service had taught him well how to deal woth viol3nce if there was a need. But most importantly how to avoid needing it. As he saw it all that was necessary in this case was an honest come clean and things could be worked out. Sadly the Miss Genovese's date seemed determined to make it a pissing contest. He knew the type and had dealt with them via a longhandled spoon. The easiest thing would be to just kill them, barring that isolate them as respect was not something they ever understood. Their whole reason for being was to puss into the wind and dance in the flames as they tore down and burned the world around them.
It was a shame but it seemed some folks only reason for being was to screw over the world in which they inhabited. It was as if their lack of authority and power made them lash out while claiming ignorance or victimhood. He didn't buy into that theory or worldview. It was simple to him work within the established rules until you reached a level to effect actual change without pissing all over everything.
It wasn't hard.

Mingling a bit longer now that the floor show was over it seemed as dinner was now put on indefinite hold. The swan shifter demurely peeked at the woman who had joined their table. Her hair as white as her dress making it clear what she was if you knew.
Tho lately hair trends had made it easier to hide which she appreciated. She was to shy to try starting conversation with the new human at the table but was talking to the other human gifteds that the marshal had brought with her." So what you were saying is,that the current state of things in council states seems well managed but very prone to chaos at times? Do you travel to other territories often?"
The two foxes the next table over were laughing at a dirty joke the hyena told. All of them in their finest and looking calmer by the moment.

erick had followed along with the group now in the much smaller space of the kitchen it was a lot of male in a small space a lot of power in that space. He looked between them and sighed" Im Erick by the way the Ursa and duke of brooklyn"
Maybe this would go well he still had hope he wanted things to go well between him and Asa in the future and him and Jesse and was just in general trying to be a hopeful person. Tho it all depended on the two wolves in front of them qas to how that went.

[Posting with writers permission] Celstra watched everything going down and she kept her thoughts to herself. Something did not sit right in the pit of her stomach as she watched Dante walk off with the others. At that same moment she received a phone call. She stepped to the side, nodding politely to the one that showed her where her table was. Her eyes widened as she listened to the call. Hanging up quickly she turned and made her way back out of the place and to her limo. Getting in the limo peeled off in a rush. Dante said nothing as he moved with the others toward the kitchen. He had planned on setting things right. It was all he wanted since he had arrived. He was just starting with his biggest mistake first, Jessie. He hadn't even had the chance to meet her yet and he found himself walking to what could be his death. He looked over to the bar where he had noticed she walked, his eyes locking on hers for a moment before looking back ahead of him. "I didn't mean any offense. I was just here to escort a friend and I planned on speaking with you once I got here. I didn't know if I was staying when I first arrived but now that I planned to, I was going to speak with you. I heard you would be here." All sarcastic tone left his voice as he spoke to Asa as he followed them. He meant it when he said he was there to right all his wrongs, but he didn't think anyone cared any longer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jessie smiled to Jez. She really wasn't trying to be rude at all. Maybe it was being brought up on the streets that made her seem to come across as rude and trashy? She didn't know. All she knew was the man that drew the others attention drew hers even more so. When his eyes locked on hers, that was when she realized it. Dante. The one that changed her. She remembered his eyes. She had seen them every day since she was saved. Where he may see what he did as a mistake, she saw it as a miracle. He saved her, no matter how lost she felt since. She got up quickly. "Excuse me." She said to Jez before she ran over toward the group. "Wait. It's because of me. He is here because of me." She sighed softly. "Don't take him." She looked to Asa. "I'll leave. We will both leave. We will go. I promise. We will go somewhere else and we will follow the rules and find the leaders and everything. Whatever it takes just please, don't hurt him." For the first time since she came to New York she allowed her vulnerability to show. Her eyes even watered as she begged for them to let Dante go. She looked to Erick, her eyes filled with sadness before looking back to Asa. "Please?"

Watching as one got up and all but ran out the door leaving her date and then the other go racing toward the kitchen, She shook her head. Well that was interesting, to say the least, she opened her phone and texted something to Bash he, in turn, would pass it down to who needed to get it and the cake would be iced before the week was out. Back to sipping her drink, she sighed softly and her stomach rumbled she had smiled in response to Severin patting his arm. He was learning quickly.
When Samuel returned to the table she smiled and spoke:" everything all set now?"
Looking to see where Erick and his lovely date might be and noticing the girl was gone. Curious, that made her a bit angry that obviously the Ursa had cared for the girl but was left with a slap so to speak. A wolf walking in with one woman and leaving with both?

Walking through the door Asa snatched up the first thing available it was a sterling silver serving tray. As he lifted it he was already mid motion swinging first with the blunt flat surface but as that dinted he began using the dinted and dinged edged its broken and cracked surface causing rips and tears to appear on the wolves close and skin. His blood splattering and flying. Asa continued until both the serving tray and the wolf Dante were unrecognizable. Finally sated he dropped the tray its clang sounding wet and splotchy.
Realizing he had not only remined unanswering but was fixated on the serving tray Asa snapped out of it and met the wolfs face settling on his eyes. There was trouble there. He knew the look he carried it himself. He however could not let his own ability to be somewhat civilized be the guide for accepting the wolf. It wasn’t as if Yesenia had understood his kindness. In fat she he was sure by body language resented him for it. No good deed went unpunished. As such he sat his drink down closing the distance, so his voice would carry and the menace in it could not be mistaken.
He looked to Erick as the man was all about second chances and forgiveness. Asa would like to aspire to such lofty ideals, but he knew in his heart he could not. No, he was not that sort of man though he wished he was. Opening his mouth to speak e closed it as Yesenia burst in teary eyed and begging for not only the wolfs life but for an escape as well. He growled his annoyance again meeting Ericks gaze.
“Fine. Run. Now you have until Sunrise then all bets off. You’re found you die. “ Turning his back as the idea of just beating them both to a red smeary pulp was so tantalizing he knew it would show in his eyes.

Erick heard her and it was if someone walked over his grave the chill that went down his spine. He didn't understand but did he supposed. Didn't mean it didn't hurt didn't mean he liked Asa being right about her. He was quiet as the grave eyes darkening with emotion but made no move. When the words left Asa he knew for a fact the ulfric was being generous and he appreciated it in some way. Looking at them both, head shook he had no words. All he had done, he crossed the kitchen as far away from her and her maker as he could get turning his back on them all. Head dipped hands on a counter, no tears but he felt the anger there.
He felt her leave the aura in the room dropping a lot lower if they were smart they would leave get their stuff and go it was only four or so hours till sunrise right around when the party was due to be over and he could see that being the perfect end to the night a mass rouge hunt. He knew the pure fool he looked like, the soup spoon he unconsciously had grabbed squealed under the grip of one massive hand. not even wanting to return to the dining room but he would have to and smile and socialize when what he wanted to do was run stripping off through central park and disappear for a while.
A leader he couldn't he was a leader and an example. Standing straight somehow he fixed his shields in place and stuffed his feelings to his feet.

The only betrayal of Samuels thoughts was him crossing his arms across his chest. Otherwise he remained impenetrably stoic. He was for ending them here and now. It was the smart play no kindness ever went unchallenged or abused. And this was a kindness on Asa’s part that he was sure would come back and bite him in the ass. Potentially them all.
It was the mark of this generation that the only repayment of any bit of kindness was rebellion refutement and worse. There was no understanding of the value of respect though the personal cost was known to all of them. He squinted as Asa and Erick withdrew to their thoughts . He stepped in their path as they attempted to leave back into the main dining area. Shaking his head, he pointed towards the rear door. They would not have the benefit of causing more unnecessary drama.

Security taking its cues from their leader escorted the wolves out the back and making sure they didn't circle back around. As Celestra had taken her limo to leave they even out of a taunting fairness called them a cab and made sure they were off to where ever they were going to prepare to leave the city. Onee that was done they returned and reported it back" escorted off site and sent packing. All posts know to be on the lookout for them should they attempt return but I doubt it."
With that sorted the night could commence as it was meant to and most everyone left at the other tables went back to their night like nothing had happened. Tho most were already whispering about the wolves and bears being caught into some sort of drama. The Ursa was subject of much curiosity as his date had disappeared with the other man it seemed. Sort of selacious and juicy.

So very much activity so little enjoyment. Eliachem raised a brow as the disturbance took place. He'd selected each of the Duchy for a particular reason and he was not more proud than they banded together and accomplished the goal of maintaining the peace as best they could.
He was sure that going forward they would band together in a similar manner and insure the domestic tranquility of the city was well maintained to the vest of their abilities even as if now the cost was higher than expected.
Rising as they rejoined the party taking their places. He moved from table to table speaking warmly though briefly. Personally thanking each person for coming in a timely manner and with the best of intentions.
Finally making his way to the center of the room as the lights adjusted dimming all but those above him. The effect was as if he were spotlighted. The whit of his ensemble adding to the effect.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I again thank you all for coming. For being part of and party to this evening. It is a momentous night. It is the inaugural moment for the recognition of our Duchy. The body of governance who will assist in the maintenance and operations of the city."
Allowing that to sink in for a beat he turned to pace. Stopping himself he turned back to the faces. Many of whom even without vampiric awareness he could see were covering what would never be theirs.
"What this means is for those of you who are leaders in your own right. Those of you who are the highest regarded in your field. Those of you who ply your trades within the city any any or all of the boroughs. These men and women are as unto me. They are in fact the door way to the kiss and myself. These men and women are without question the leading counsel and council for the city as a while and their individual borough's in particular."
Again he scanned the crowd letting those too slow or too stubborn catch up to what that meant.
"So without further prestidigitation and anticipation...please stand so that we might properly welcome...Erick Kelly, Duke of Brooklyn. Samuel Banks-Walker Duke of Manhattan. Asariel Wolff Duke of Staten Island. Carrie Suffolks Duke of Queens. And Caoimhin Duke of The Bronx."
As he ended his introductions right on cue the glasses arrives and he took each setting one before each of them. In each was a dram of each other's blood mulled and spiced with a wine of particularly strong vintage. Procured by Samuel from the New Orleans Sleuth designed to be potent even for members of the preternatural community.
Finally back to the center he began again. "Please raise a glass for your Duchy." Taking his own he raised in toast, "To New York, your Boroughs, and you," downing the whole He say his glass down. And stepped back out of spotlight as the lights came up.

Monica raised her glass as the men on either side raised theirs having stood. She was proud of both of them, it had been strange to watch a so buoyant and sweet man like the Ursa seem suddenly so quiet and almost dour. His aura swirling to her with the dark grey of sadness. The mistrust and loathing mixed in. she sighed and had not pryed but she was indeed now a bit concerned. After the drink and speech concluded she applauded as did others and smiled as seats were retaken.
Dinner was in full swing they were on the third courses, which were a choice of type of salad between chicken Caesar and garden. Hersssss was devoured as she knew it would be a long night as polite conversation was made. Other than the one small snag it seemed things were going well. Peeking at Samuel the power of what had been in his cup the blood of so much strength coursing through him. The heat of him flicking against her skin made her reach for her water taking a deep gulp.

Moving off from Eli she had moved about the tables occasionally talking to people here and there and generally keeping an eye on everything happening. As the meeting appeared in the middle of the room she watched and listened as everyone else did though not everyone could here what was being said. Her eyes also slid to the those of the faces around her as Erick, Asa and Samuel along with the very unwelcome wolf walked back into the kitchen.
She did in fact follow them, it wasn't that she couldn't hear what was happening from clear across the space and she knew the lion would take care of it but the entire situation was quite amusing. She stayed on the outside of the door however as the rogue tried to talk his way out of it. That cleary failed as blood tinged the air and she actually giggled as the female wolf ran in begging for them both. Flame walked off before everyone save the rogues rejoined the party her head just shaking at the absurdity.
Finally taking her own seat as their host took to the stage she listened and clapped right along with everyone else. She made light talk about nothing in particular as food was served and eaten.

She had turned her head to watch the party make way for the kitchen not at all expecting for Jessie to run after them. She sat there for probably a minute stunned into confusion probably before sliding off the stool her glass in hand. Oh she knew she should probably go see what was up but before she knew it she could smell blood and then it didn't take a genius to know what was going on.
Shrugging slightly though still angry about other things and a tad upset about what was going down she moved to her seat. She would wait until later because they didn't need a bigger scene.
Her eyes went to each of the males as they filed out of the kitchen her eyes going to Asa checking to make sure the blood wasn't his. With that done she turned her attention to the other occupants. She smiled at each one in turn before striking up conversation with the ones nearest her all to aware when he was finally seated beside her.
Having no real time to say anything Eli was at the front of the room giving his speech. She listened though her mate was making it difficult to pay attention even as he paid attention to what was being said. Oh yeah they were pretty equally matched but he was still a man and she a woman. Her eyes traveled to each individual as they each were named.
When it was finally over and food was served she dug in and tried to talk with everyone that spoke to her. She would have loved right then to give the wolf next to her the cold shoulder but that wouldn't do so she didn't. She spoke to him as well even as he knew she was stilled pissed.

As Samuel had followed them to change their course it left him and Asa alone in the kitchen, he spoke only loud enough for the other to hear him but no louder" I should have listened to you... you were right about her. I was fooled by a pretty face and should have stayed out of wolf business. It won't happen again no worries"
The normal passion and light in his voice were missing, as they walked back out he stopped to grab a drink sniffing it and realizing how strong this was he ordered a double and downed them. Finally coming alone back to the table not looking anyone in the eye. He ate mechanically and it tasted of dirt in his mouth. When they were called he stood drank thankful for the further burn of it. Sitting again, only answering when spoken to and giving brief answers.
As soon as he saw a way to leave he was planning on it hoping no onme would try and stop him.

He nodded in reply not even thinking the words I told you so. He didn't need them he didn't want them. He wanted to dismember someone. As it was a waste. It was a horrible terrible waste. And one he couldn't get the measure of somehow they'd averted a catastrophe and yet it felt like so much hollowness. It was empty and tasted of failure even with the success of it.
The wolves would be perceived as stronger more in sync and yet he knew they were not. The lions always a force to reckon with would seem even more so and the Bears king would be the peacemaker and only measure of grace the Duchy had. All good things and yet.
Heading back to his table drink in hand he smiled at Jen though he still felt an urge to fight. He wouldn't argue or pick but the urge was strong.
Standing and raising a glass he toasted the success of the city. Slinking away in the midst of the glad handing and congratulations.
It was only once outside that he spotted Erick doing the same. "Might as well share a cab;If you're up for a drink or twenty."
