Monica had kept her head down nose clean and weathered the winter. Tracking and testing and building her and her partner and her lioness all three working to stem the flow of drugs into the city. It was slow and hard and they kept finding ways.
So she was here today to talk to one of the ship captainsame that used the missipi river as primary route. He was late tho and that did not bode well for this. He better still be breathing or she'd kill him. She tried not to check her watch again.
She was plain clothes but pacling. Symtill tho this was a female Scarse environment so she probably looked like a cop or an addict or escort. Two of those would have them under estimate the first could get her fired on.

Sirdar Onkarjeet Singh Deol had sailed the water of the Mississippi and three of the great oceans for over twenty years. Of the bodies of water he’d sailed on he lied the Mississippi the best. He come to this country when he was but a babe and grew up on the waters of the river he now made his home here in new York to be closer to his extended family and yet it still called to him.
The last few year had been hard and were growing harder all the time. Between the constant pressure from Homeland Security to the constant stop and checks by the local law enforcement he had one hell of a time making ends meet. The more he made the harder it became to continue making. Soon he would have to give it up between the legal pressures and the illegal ones. Just last week he’d had to dump a shipment meant for a Felicite Industries somewhere in Chicago due the fact the biologics were contraband. Why would anyone want lycanthrope contaminated biologic matter.
And now there was this woman who smelled of law enforcement seeking a conversation. He knew he didn’t really have a choice but he took some small pleasure in making sure he was as difficult to speak with as could be. He waited at the shipyard office and watched the door for her. If she didn’t show within the next twenty minute she could leave with a clear conscience.

Monica looked up and noticed something she hadn't before rust had obscured the numbers what shed thought was a 8 was a 6 she was at the wrong building cursing softly she beat it to the right one and feeling the captains aura went in carefully. walking up to the office she smiled" looking for a date tonight sexy?"
no wires no tail she knew of tho occasionally samuel had surprised her. She did have a panic button and her guns though so if it went south she could be tracked and tracked fst, letting the man in front of her form ion her minds eye he was murky and muddled but felt mostly human shaped.

Onkarjeet stopped waiting a half second too late the cop saw him. He smiled despite his mood. He hated police as matter of perspective and loathed them as a matter of a lifetime being harassed in one form or another. He waved her over all the while fighting with himself too ask her to go away. He could dream.
" No. No date my wife would find that dishonorable. But right this way ma’am."
He refrained from calling her officer thought the term rose to his tongue freely. Leading her inside he waited as she followed he was aware of how rough and tumble the area could be. He had not lived his many years without a certain wariness. This while not secret was a very close thing. And one he would prefer they had no witness of. Once settled in his office he locked the door before moving to the desk. He sat in the guest chair offering her the other.
“Now what might I be able to help you with tonight?”

She smiled but it was more a baring of teeth she'd learned it from Samuel odly enough. Maybe it was a predator thing. Sitting making sure he saw one of the guns she had a few " Well my partner and I know you make plenty of trips on the main body of water we have interest in. So you may have taken some of the cargo we are wanting or know someone who has. If you have we could offer possible deals for loosing that cargo where we could find it or if you give us names you would be left out of any impending busts."
Locking eyes with him he was readable so lies would be noticed

Her smile was unsettling. It wasn’t unattractive but it held something he didn’t want to explore. So he did what he always did when confronting or confronted by something he wished to avoid. He raised both hands showing he meant no harm and smiled. In most cases the predator went about its way. In some he’d had to take arms but rarely had he lost anything and never anything of value.
In this moment he was however unsure if that would be the case.
She was law enforcement. She was asking a pointed question. Which meant she knew more than most as to his ferrying of things. He would never take a life and short of that when officers of the law became involved nothing could stop them. So he did a few quick mental notations as he arranged the papers on his desk moving them into one pile and off to the side of the desk itself.
It was a stalling tactic and one that was obvious but at the moment it was all he had as he considered just how much he was willing to lose. Meeting the point at the end of her nose he began. “ Madam I make great pains to not lie even as all around me others bear false witness as a matter of fact. Yet you ask a question that is very open ended and I can not answer it without perhaps a refining of scope. I and my crew carry many things to many places and each of the many things has value of one variety or another to all sorts of people. I can not divulge just as carte blanche such things without having an idea as to what cargo and to whom it might belong. Doing so could and would make enemies I would rather not have or worse betray confidences that would have loss of life be the smallest price to pay. So if you can please a little more specificity so that I can answer honestly as well as know how long my family has to flee the city.”
It was a mouthful and a brain’s worth of information but as she had not raided him or come bearing warrants he hoped that the small bit of forewarning and plea for kindness would not go unheard.

"You are a smart man I am sure you know that a detective would not be after crates of pottery or produce or even tax free methods of importing alcohol or tobacco across state lines that's more federal so what does that leave ? I'll give you a hint I work in the preturnatual branch..vampires wereanimals that sort. So really think"
She gave him a pleasant look handing more rope he could pull him self out or hang. If she had to tip the atf she could and probably would if he tried to be tough but he didn't feel like that type. His aura read green and yellow with uncertain swirls of orange.

Onkarjeet smiled like the old man he had become. Again seeking an escape. He had none but looked all the same. He knew he was done with the business that had been his livelihood befor ethey’d even sat own et he still hoped. Laying his fingers flat on the edge of his desks his thumbs rubbing the wood of its edge committing this moment to memory. He was sure he would be mentally reliving this moment many nights to come. "Thank you I try to be as smart as I am honorable. Though it seems that may never truly be the case. I may know of what you speak but I can assure I have stayed as far from any true illicit narcotics of any sort. As for the other I try to never pry into the packages parcels and precious cargo I ferry for others. Those that I know may bring me trouble I discard as soon as I can. Doing so has cost me much money along the way and saved me far much more grief and shame.”
He paused thinking of where he could shift the blame knowing there was really no way around it. Luckily he was not the only source of potential information which should grant him and his family just enough time to make themselves scarce. He’d heard that Minneapolis was not such a bad place and he would still have some access to the river that had been his life for so long.
“I am afraid that if you are seeking someone who could shed light on the recent Vitamin problem I may be the wrong person. What I know could easily be found with many others. Some who stay away from attempting its transport such as myself and others who thrive on the sort of chaos that it brings. From what I understand the flow has been greatly inhibited as is and that if present supplies are not replenished that it would only be a few more weeks or months before it is completely ceased.”
Yes he was doing his best to lead a merry chase but sadly he knew it was not working. “In absolute truth officer I think the prersons you may be looking for are the Somnam Ko who run the Aerotransport fleet. They have boats that are illegally modified and thrive in the darkest of places here on the docks. They are the only firm that can rival the Exauda Militis. I believe though I can not prove that they may also be the reason that the Exauda has been held in check as long as it has. Neither of the two are forces I would choose to truck with. Both have the means and the wherewithal to deliver what you are asking about into the city or anywhere in the country. They are who you should be speaking with.”
It wasn’t the absolute truth as he knew that the Exauda was an elite company where Aerotransport was not so reputable. Though in sheer ferocity Aero had Exauda beat it was Exauda’s guaranteed privacy and security which kept Aero as low tiered as it was. They were reckless at Aero and while privacy was not guaranteed they ate up the market covering everything that was not Exauda. It made independants like himself and the Russians who used the gangs from LA a dying breed. Even the Russians had chosen a side whereas he and the few others truly had not. If they were to stay in business eventually they would have to nles someone came along and united the independents but who had the strength to do such a thing and wouldn’t doing that just be becoming what they sought to escape.

She listened quietly and nodded at parts filing knowledge and it had her happy on two fronts as she'd have something for her lion as well as target and rival. To put the captain at ease" I will speak with people from those two companies if possible through my own means and with the utmost care for both my and your safety. "
She'd not give him up as source to the more dangerous company and wouldn't need to. She really didn't want to turn him in to the feds either but would give him fair enough head start and then drop a tip for a raid he'd not be around for. Couldn't be seen to show favor in this." You'd been approached it sounds like but smart to not get involved tho I didn't know it was drying up I will have to check for some things in regards to that. Thank you for your time and candor I will take my leave. I suspect we will never see one another again so a word of advice...disappear and fast."
She unlocked the door checked her surrounding and left slipping between buildings and making haste to her unmarked. Once in she checked the recording it went till she thanked him her urging him to beat it was not caught which covered her rear and his.
