Asa enjoyed his position as both Bolverk and Ulfric. It was a role that granted him leave to take the edge off his rage enough to lead well enough and still be more than a political force to reckoned with. He knew in the end he didn’t have a head for it but as Jezebel was busy keeping the pack together despite the Silver Claws larger finances and hired goons that he had to be more circumspect. It took everything he had to not wage a war directly against them as Jez and the master had when they thinned the packs in Yonkers, Rockaway, Staten, and such all those months ago. No, the Silver claws while a problem knew better than to take them on directly yet they were attempting to bring every wolf of any stripe under their reign. Using money and the idea of safety against their own best interests.
It was a safe bet that between strength of numbers financial safety and freedom everyone would usually choose the former while sacrificing the latter with a smile on their faces. He wasn’t one of those. No, he was too feral even without his infection to do that and not screw it up so why bother. It was the only reason this worked for him. He could be wild enough to pretend to be right in the head. As such now that the dust had settled and the Ombra del Passato formerly the Cruor had come out on top he’d begun incursions to the silver claws land. Nothing that couldn’t be written off as gang violence as far as the police was concerned but what the Ombra started he finished. The leaders of the Claws were in disarray meaning dead or vanished which left their lesser lieutenants money men and low level enforcers up for grabs.
He was just greedy enough that he had begun recruiting them. Giving them legitimacy that none other could provide. The trick would be in getting Jez to understand. She was far more old guard than she let on or would admit and their very criminal nature went against many of those societal mores. He didn’t give two shits about traditions or being honorable. Being honorable to traditions only ended with two things death and hunger. He wasn’t going hungry for anyone or anything. Neither were the wolves as a whole, they couldn’t afford that shit. So, he recruited who he could and killed those who were dangerous enough that he knew that their yes had nothing to do with agreeing to follow and more with them sizing him and the Pack up for coffins.
