Hiero stepped out of the shower and sent a text to Tasha. It simply read ‘Here. First steps done. BHS. MYF’ Coded yet heart felt all the same. There was more he could have said or a more direct manner he could have said it in out thought better of it. He didn’t want to worry her. Standing in front of the mirror which most would assume was vanity he checked over the wounds he had inspecting their healing or lack of. Nothing he wouldn’t and hadn’t lived through before. Sadly, he knew even as they cleaned appraised and judged their wounds the pack they’d just crippled would be doing the same. It would mean the stakes just grew exponentially right along with the packs security for their operations.
Sliding on shorts he blotted his skin as he brought the towel with him resting around his shoulders. Looking form one to the other he made his way to the fridge took out two beers and went to sit near Samuel and Memphis. He ignored Tam for the moment she was a truthsayer and that often caused trouble. Better to not stir her pot just yet. " Knowing Samuel as I do ladies I can assure you he has at least one other operation running perhaps two. What we have to worry over is the fact these idiots had a Griffin. While yes it is their strongest most secure location we decimated if they have the backing of a group powerful enough to have a believed extinct being in their employ we will have our hands full." He ttook a sip of his beer and fought his gag reflex. Cold or not it was garbage. Sighing he chugged the first and popped number two.
“So at this point what we have is each other. Any issues need to not be and we need to be even more focused. Who spotted the Griffin first, No Memphis you and Seattle were point what did you see on the way up?” ruining in his seat some he addressed the Burlingtons one of you go get Tulsa we need our eye in the sky as well. We need to be as well prepared as we can be this is no San Antonio or New Orleans.”
No one but the twins knew how bad New Orleans had ended but the message was clear no mistakes or missteps this time. He softened his order by touching Mel as he turned back to the three before him.

She listened and was glad that she an the twins were no longer alone. Chuckling at tam but then straightened up when heiro came in. Listening between wincing sips" thats just it we gad that one room when it smelled weird but we never went in there. As I went up nothing seemed out of place but I was focused front i knew she had point. She noticed it and acted we didn't see it persay just knew it wasn't something ordinary till I thought more while running back down after the trap."
She realized then that if tam hadn't been there or less good a hunter the griffin would have grabbed her. Keeping her thoughts from her face she bit her lip.

He watched as the twins dispersed ne moving to grab Tulsa the other sliding a chair so as to be nearer to Samuel his gaze down swept as he sipped the beer he’d grabbed in the shuffling of he and his brother. Hiero had a few thoughts on that. It seemed they were ore lion together than apart and that was what overwhelmed them. He would test the theory. As the other got back with Tulsa who’d changed into shorts and an overly large Tee. He felt the need in her and her efforts to contain and control herself. He thanked her with a nod. She was of everyone gathered the youngest lion and the one too whom all of the pheromones in the room was not invisible.
Despite her newer status as a lion she despite her size and apparent age was the third oldest behind he and Samuel. She’d spent years honing her skills before being infected it was one of the reasons Hiero went out of his way to disguise her. Technically they were all in the presence of someone who’d been an enemy of the state. He knew the charge was officially aiding and abetting a fugitive from justice. Truthfully no on save himself could actually be prosecuted on the charge but he would continue doing his best to insure that no one found out. Hence why she was Tulsa even to Melissa and Samuel. Especially Samuel who he knew would vet the others as much as he could once he attained real equilibrium.
As they came Hiero stood beginning to pace purposefully to isolate the other Burlington from his brother and offer some security to both Melissa and Tulsa. “Okay the pack has access to oaths and allies beyond what is to be normally expected. Griffins…Damn. That usually means practitioners. The fire helped us it should be less of our blood they might be able to use to track us but that means we need more intel…” Looking to Samuel he asked a question he wouldn’t ever say aloud before going on. “One strange scent was it earthy, like stale dead dirt?” He asked Melissa and Tam knowing if it was as he expected that meant golem. Golem and Griffins tended to go hand and hand. Which unfortunately meant definitively Practitioners. It was not shaping up as easily as the impossible mission Samuel had asked for help with. Even thinking of impossible made him think of Kasha. He hated her loss and her pain but he also had to be cognizant of what was not merely his heart in that regard. Resting a hand on Melissa’s shoulder he moved to the fridge grabbing the last twelve in the case and bringing them with him back to the group. Looking from one to the other he parceled out the beers and chugged one before popping a fourth for himself. “Well folks what do we have?”

Something was different she realized it then in the midst of their meeting. The way her body used to react to her rex was very much that of a girl with a crush. Fluttering heart and tender belly but he had touched her several times since entering the kitchen and it was just pride just comfort all the extras were suddenly gone.
Mel would contemplate it later if they had time. It might be good or bad depending. Thinking on the smell she looked to tam for confirmation " definitely like dust and death I kept wondering how somthing could not smell like anything but smell like death..dead wolves smell like dead wolves dead humans smell like dead humans dust or dirt was never alive to smell dead"
Thinking back never had she met a golum in her time as a cop. Griffins she'd heard of but they were supposed to not exist anymore. " so is it a money thing for the magic user or a watch them all burn thing arnt most Practitioners supposed to believe in do no harm "
She could admit what she actually knew about people like that was limited and hersay.

Tam took the pisswater opened and said as she took a swig. “It’s gaein be awricht ance the pain has gane awa. Dey cain’t be all double yoked eggs nae cain dey?” She looked form Chicago Samuels brother to everyone in the room. If she hadn’t sen it herself she would never swear to it but she was sure Samuel sported a grin for a second no more than that maybe even less. He got her drift and then some.
So they were against Practitioners. So they were against a city and its people. Their were none braver than lions which was why being a lion for more than a decade was a thing of beauty and beating the odds. What most didn’t realize was that even the truth of it didn’t stop fear from creeping round the backdoor or sneaking in some open window. That made them far braver than any would ever guess.
“Aye twas a Golem maybe definitely maybe but if’n its sucha strange thing ta come across that should mean what the most they have is maybe one more. We know just as Memphis pointed out they are bound by rules do harm and it comes back ta ye. So they cain’t send it after us. And if dey do we destroy it and them. Its what we’re gonna do any way right break them so none of the kings men or their horses can put it all back together.” She didn’t dare stand she didn’t dare move not because she was afraid to do so exactly. It was questions were for knowledge but she as she spoke having been so long away form being the power in a room forgot how questions could be taken. Or she had until she looked at the Burlingtons they visible seemed smaller as if they were making room for a backlash.
She didn’t think she’d overstepped but it was never the offending parties call. Cursing her big mouth she sipped her beer looking form Samuel to Hiero.

Listening she quirked a brow the language was almost musical and guttural at the same time. It was fascinating she watched them both then nodded" learn what we can about magic and practioners and how best to nutralize them with out a body count unless we really have to. Maybe they can be flipped besides we sort of are magic right?"
It probably sounded silly but most felt that there was some sort of magical essance tied into the virus that made them what they were or was it biology that allowed them to feel each other even hundreds of miles apart or heal each other by touch?
She didn't want to dwell on semantics it seemed small in the grand scheme of things. The battle wasn't over yet the task not quite done." Can we at least agree to get better beer?"

He fixed Tam with a small bit of weight not threatening merely questioning a few things. He knew she was brave and head strong he wanted to insure she was all bravado and recklessness. He allowed a weight to sit until Melissa spoke mainly as a test. If she was heedless then he would have to reevaluate her. He caught the slight movement of Tulsa. She wasn’t actively throwing in her lot with Tam but she would back her play. That was good to know she had a thing for lioness solidarity. He looked to Sam as he silently chuckled as he took a swig.
"We…" He began as he took another swig and opened a can for Tam. “Are magic, but in the end magic is just science we can’t break to our will. Or at least that’s how one of the pointy hats at the Green dolphin once told me. It has rules and exceptions and then again more rules for the exceptions and then again more exceptions for those rules. It’s a thing with the warnings only coming after a thing not before. So yeah we have their number and can do the impossible here but it comes down to how much impossibilities can we pull off before we get smacked back to reality in a bad way?”
Hiero moved to the chair sitting himself just about in the middle of all that hot and heavy feline energy. One foot resting cross underneath him he eyed each of them as he went on. “So far as Tam said we have the wolves well these wolves against us. We have whichever practitioner is in their corner against us. We have potentially the local Pride against us. And in the end the city its peoples its cops and such against us, which means the Master of the City is for all intents against us. We have what we can bring to bear and if push comes to shove I know there is an exit strategy in the works. So yes we will get better beer and we will take better precautions moving forward. Little things we can spot going sigils protections salt or lead lines purified circles. Ash marked foreheads or any other such trappings will let us know that practitioners are working the area. I and Samuel will make some calls later for any protections and boons we can get our hands on. Anyone have any connections to the city’s communities that’s reliable?”

In seven days if one were bent to the lessons of the bible God mad ethe world and all that ran on it swam beneath it and flew above it. Seven days and all that was, would be and could be was created and set loose with the edit to be fruitful and multiply. To follow the biologic imperative to procreate, to exist and fill the world with its kind.
Seven days.
In that time the band of lions tore a hole into the city at large the creating a vacuum some brunt of which was filled. Much more which was choked into nonexistence. Seven days and the status quo of the city was irrevocably changed.
Seven days ad a Pride that had stretched back to the founding of the city was destroyed. Seven days and Fraternal bonds would never again be the same. Seven days and the world as it was known was upturned.
In seven days a paltry one hundred sixty eight hours New York was changed and the repercussions of that change would take decades to sort out in detail.
Samuel was King the world was different. The Abstrahimus had a foot hold in the one place it’d wished to not tread and the world waited with bated breath as to what that would mean as the one thing thought impossible was now true. A lion only organization had footholds across the four corners of the contiguous United States and woe be to those who chose to stand against it.
Seven Days.
