Asa sat at the restaurant sizing up the target. He was alone with him and his muscle. He’d told the client that he would look into it. He’d looked and knew it was more trouble than it was worth the man was a lion, well protected and stayed relatively random in his movements. It made the only time to hit him was in motion. It was more trouble than it was worth. New York was filled with cameras witnesses and police. It wasn’t worth it to just beat a man that would heal the damage in a couple of days at the outside. All the same he sized up the angles he’d need a chase and a blocking vehicle. Six men on stand by and they’d need to hit fast hard and disappear. So no gunfire just melee weapons and able to disappear into the streets which meant casual dress nothing that wouldn’t stand out.
It was doable though he wouldn’t be the one to take the roll of the dice on that action. He was a wolf and any action he took against another lycanthrope would be taken as a declaration of war of one clan against another. He didn’t mind a little or a lot of violence but even he wasn’t dumb enough to think that whipping the clans of the rotten apple into a tizzy was a smart idea. He didn’t even have a pack to run with so he would be hung out to dry like yesterdays laundry.
Stepping outside he called his agent. “Yeah, it’s a silly idea. The man is a walking fortress. It would be dumb if you aren’t going to do him right then don’t take the job.” He said as he hailed a cab to head uptown. Making his way into the cab he spotted the man’s muscle watching him through the restaurant’s window. He shivered the man was not infected but he was a predator in human skin.

Jez sat in one of the many outdoor chairs the café had to offer. A coffee cup set at her elbow and she had a newspaper open on the table but she hadn't been paying it a whole of attention. Instead she was busy watching the people walk by. She didn't have anything planned for the day so she had to keep from getting bored somehow. She had enjoyed meeting Erick and thought seriously about dropping by his shop again but she had no need for flowers this time so he would likely see through her reason for being there, whatever that was. Her mother had absolutely loved the basket of flowers that had arrived on the day of her birthday. She had called gushing over it and asked where it had been done so of course Jez gave her the name of the place.
She wasn't interested in keeping herself blocked off from everything going on her around her today and had in fact let her shields loosen enough to the point she was pretty much broadcasting herself. It was certainly a great way to let everyone that needed to know that she was there and that she wasn't going anywhere. Looking for a waiter she flagged one down and ordered an omelet to start with and a new cup of coffee as she had waited to long to drink the one she had and it had gone cold.

Standing midway between getting into his waiting cab and not He knew he made a nearly perfect target. He might as well have place a bulls eye on his forehead. He’d already been made so there was no avoiding the scrutiny. He was sure the Lion’s man was already committing his face to memory. Definitely so he could look him up later. He didn’t care he wasn’t pulling an action on anyone. Yes he was scouting the possibility but f the guy was as good as his apparent watchfulness seemed to say he knew there were at least six different targets in the immediate vicinity that were twice as lucrative as his boss. Rethinking the cab Asa tossed the man a ten spot for his troubles and holding up traffic then moved from the cab onto the curb. That’s when he caught the emanations from across the street.
She wolf. Strong she wolf. She was inviting the world to dare her. She kept her shields so blatantly open Asa had to do a double take. That was bold daring and all together fool hardy enough that it immediately caught his eye. She sat seemingly oblivious to the world around her. He knew that wasn’t the case and made his way to her. Dropping his shields more each step he grew closer to her. He spent an ungodly amount of time at the edge of her shielding allowing their beast to introduce each other before he made his final approach.
He hadn’t bothered joining the pack as in his head they were weak and not worth his time. Especially as it would have meant he’d have to kill the Ulfric. Not because he wanted to run the pack but because from everything he saw the man was a grade A jack ass with a napoleon complex a mile wide. Asa would have had to put him out of everyone’s misery just to sleep at night peacefully. So he’d stayed downwind of the pack as a matter of survival.
“Is this seat taken?” He asked finally having closed the distance. He hoped she wouldn’t take his slow approach as anything than what it was a lifetime of other things causing him to move slowly.

With her shields as open as they were she instantly recognized the feel of wolf as he came towards her. It took her the work of a moment or two to find the source and she frowned just a bit. As he came closer the power around him became stronger as well. He was clearly dropping his shields just as she had done earlier but whether he was doing it in answer to her or something else she hadn't a clue. If she hadn't known better this male could possibly of been the Ulfric but considering that particular male was no longer around there was no way. Not to say he wasn't one in his own right she just happened to know for a fact he wasn't the head in this city. Made her wonder what he was doing here.
By the time he made his way to her table she was curious about him and her she wolf was rather enthusiastically rubbing her body all over his wolf. An odd reaction but that told her more clearly what the female thought. Waving her hand at the empty seat opposite her she indicated that he could join her. "By all means take the seat. You being here will make this morning that more eventful than it otherwise would have been." Now that the ball was rolling she would go ahead and introduce herself. "I'm Jezebel and I am the Ulfreya around these parts and you are?"

Taking the offered seat Asa spoke as he sat. “I’m Asa and well I was scouting the lion across the street considering whether I would take the job of either killing him or roughing him up. He has a decent amount of security that he keeps floating around him and they are all seemingly experienced enough to make it a chore. Not worth it in the end.” He could have come up with some cute lie but he had a feeling she would prefer an ugly truth. She was definitely a looker so he hoped he gambled right. If not it would simply be one of many bridges he burned. Wouldn’t be the first time he opened a door he’d rather not.
Continuing as she considered what he was and how she would deal with him he said, “Jezebel has certain connotations were your parents sadists or bible thumpers. The latter I have more experience with as my full name is Asariel one of the twenty eight Archangels. Which for kids means the ne we’re going to attack first.”

Her eyebrows rose towards her hairline as Asa told her what he'd been up to before he joined her. She hadnt been expecting that kind of answer but it did show her that he was likely to be truthful. Of course this one time didnt mean he would in the future if they had further dealings she could only hope it continued. "So does that make you muscle for someone else or more the assassin type?" In either situation that made him very useful, not that she had plans to kill anybody anytime soon.
Before she could say more her new cup of coffee arrived along with her breakfast. Ignoring the omnlet for now she picked up the cup and started sipping nothing but straight black liquid. Her eyes starred at the wolf while she drank and considered offering him breakfast as well. After setting down the other half down she asked "would you like some food?" It was only polite after all.
She knew where her name had come from but it hadnt been chosen for either reason. "I can see why you would ask but no my parents are neither sadists or bible thumpers. My mother just liked the name and my father went with it. I think yours is pretty neat but I can imagine the bullying in school." She felt sympathy for the young boy but she doubted the man before her would appreciate the sentiments.

Nodding he used her unused salad fork to reach across and scoop a portion of her omelet into his mouth before speaking. "Both. Neither. You have to go where the money is and so I have worked as both sometimes one more than the other. But I am thinking of going legit or at least as legitimate as a piss poor tempered lycanthrope with anger issues ever can."
Sparing a smile he seldom used as it was more or less genuine he went on as if he instead of stating his plans for the next portion of his life had just offered her the time of day. He liked speaking freely. Normally it was done for shock value to unnerve. Thanks to her condition and his it was an honest conversation. Which in his line of work was as rare as the hope diamond or its long lost twin.
"Not bad. But could use some spice." He said in regards to the omelet. Also normally now was the portion where they played twenty questions trying to sum up who they were what they were looking for and whether they’d take the time to know each other carnally or otherwise. He didn’t like that portion but he was willing to play albeit a little out of order.
"How about we get out of here and see what we look like naked. We can be at Van Cortlandt Park in thirty minutes and running wild in thirty two." He had no idea how she felt about being infected but the offer to shift would be telling enough to decide if he was her sort of person to know and if she was his.

She knew how that was although she was pretty sure she hadn't learned that lesson in the same way he had. She'd moved straight from her parents home to living with her old pack and the Ulfric had made it a point to take care of everybody in whatever way they needed. Of course she had done whatever was necessary to make sure she didn't need to rely on his generosity. Some had said she was stupid for not accepting what he offered but those had been the free loaders, none of them lasted long.
"How do you plan on going legit? There aren't many jobs that will pay what you are used to making but I'm sure you already know that." Jez picked up her fork and tried the omelet for herself and had to agree with him so she reached for the pepper and sprinkled some across the top. Taking another bite she nodded to herself because it tasted better than before but it still needed more. Not that she was going to finish it.
At first she was a little taken aback by the change in conversation and it showed on her face. Seconds later a full bright smile nearly split her face in two. It had been a while since she had shifted and he was offering to do it with her. Could this day get any better? Waving to her waiter she handed the man a twenty and told him to keep the change. She looked excitedly at Asa "I'm all in, you ready to go?"

Watching her taste and pepper the eggs was far more adorable than he would ever admit. She seemed far more poised and composed than anyone he normally associated with. It m to repress a smile that while felt might convey the wrong message. Or the right one he was unaware of needed sending.
"Honestly probably by being a hired gun for a PMC or private security company. There are only so many jobs for people with my skillset. If push comes to shove and it usually does I would make up the difference with a few less than legal but lucrative small gigs. In between that I was hoping to make a home by joining the local pack if I can find them. But to be honest I find this whole multiple packs multiple boroughs thing annoying. Especially the shit head in Staten he seems like a full blown head up his ass sort of prick whose lucky I don’t work for free. No matter how deserving a target is." As she slid the bill into the waiters hand he was already rising to his feet. Once she pushed back from the table he was there sliding her chair out for her. He was raised oh so properly and it reared its head far too often for his liking.
A thirty minute ride was normally fraught with mindless noise but she was able to absorb his natural silence without needing to fill it with chatter. He caught her glancing him up a few times but as a whole they rode in camraderal comfort the taxi’s radio shouting the most recent reasons they needed to be afraid of the world at large. He always listened to the news but mainly as a way to find a laugh for his day. He was unsure how she was absorbing the news but instead focused his gaze outward watching the road its pedestrians as well as the numerous choke points along the way. He’d set enough ambushes that as par for course he insured he as prepared should some idiot get the notion to attempt such things against him.
Arriving at the nature preserve. Everyone knew of Central park yet didn’t realize that this oasis was just as large and far wilder. There were whole areas that even now were untouched by the modern world. It made it perfect for two lycanthropes who wanted to get away in the middle of the day. As the cabbie let them out he opened the door and helped her out though he clearly didn’t need it. Something about old habits sprung to mind.
He moved into the preserve glancing at her as he undid his tie slipping it into his pocket. His jacket was next sliding it over his shoulders far too smoothly for anyone who wasn’t a lycanthrope or fae. “You ready for this.” He said as he glanced at the sky absorbing the rays of the sun and taking in the bright blueness of it.

Well at least the man had a plan and he had plans on top of those which was great, for him anyways. She was a little confused over his comment about there being multiple packs within the city. She hadn't been under that impression, maybe he knew something that she didn't? For now she would table that thought and later after their run she'd bring it back up so he could enlighten her. Starting to stand from her seat the male was there sliding the chair out from under her which made her smile just a bit. It was hard to find men that actually had manners nowadays.
She followed Asa to a cab and climbed in after him. When he made no move to continue talking she sat there quietly just taking it all in. Didn't bother her a bit that he stayed silent the entire ride to the park it was certainly better then inane chatter.
When the taxi rolled to a stop he again helped her out of the car and she gave him a smile for his efforts. Following her new friend into the deeper region of the park she took a deep breathe letting the smell of undisturbed woodlands and the animals that called this place home fill her nose. In her minds eye she could see her wolf pacing impatiently for what came next. Glancing over she watched as he began disrobing and she had to approve of him, long and lean exactly the way she liked. This was going to be fun.
She slipped her shoes off first her socks following before she pulled the shirt up and over her head. She looked for a hidey hole not wanting her stuff to be carried off by curious creatures. Finding one off to the side she stuffed everything in it quickly adding her jeans and undies to the growing pile. Stepping away she moved further into the woods knowing he was right behind her. "Pretty sure I'm more ready then you are," of course she was just teasing him.

“Doubtful,” was all he said smiling as he did so. He paused undressing as she was oh so careful with her things. It made since. Once or twice he’d had to make the jog home in simply his boxers and socks. He didn’t mind. He supposed it would make since to protect his things but as he’d come unarmed he didn’t have anything that couldn’t be easily replaced. Kicking off his shoes he dropped trou and shirt and jacket. Pausing as he took in the sight of her. It wasn’t the most lycanthrope thing to do but she had a body worth admiring at least to his way of looking at things. As he went commando there was nothing between her eyes his piercings and Tattoos except god’s great air. Smiling as he was unsure what she would think he jogged in place limbering up and stretching the muscles that would soon be replaced by others.
Waiting until she really looked at him he bowed through all the showmanship into the maneuver he could spare. As he lowered his head he raised it to catch her eye his now gone completely wolf. He’d learned being his secretly constant angry self, meant he could shift on a dime if he chose. He usually didn’t and simply used the heat and strength of the beast to do things others found impossible. Now he gave in to the seething anger at the pit of him shifting as he moved towards her. The three feet span of space was covered in a second as he went from man to beast in the blink of an eye.
And what a beast he was one and a half times taller than a normal wolf. The mask and top coat stretching from head to just above his withers was a deep dusky speckled black and full gunmetal grey. The undercoat which showed across his shoulders and upper forelegs a grey sprinkled through with a dark brown that existed nowhere else on his body. And lastly his undercoat that covered his chest haunches, stomach and gentalia was a white so bright it seemed to glow in its brightness. He’d been called a ghost wolf by a few tribesman in Seattle that had gotten a look at him chasing prey across the great northwest. Others called him the demon or worse he had to admit the name suited at times. Bounding over her at the last second he ran curving back into a circle to catch her again. Ducking and dodging invisible ethers enjoying being alive in the fur.

Jez watched as he undressed a bit of a curious look on her face. She wasn't a particular fan of body piercings but that didn't mean she didn't like to plan with them when they were on somebody else's body. She liked the tattoo even if it was a bit ironic. She'd wanted so badly to touch him while he was still in his human form but his wolf worked just as well. She stood still amazed at his quick shift and sheer size of his beast. He was bigger then she was but that was normally a given. The difference between male and female. Unfortunately for her she was smaller then most females even. He could easily cover her with his own body and not think twice about it.
When he finally stood still next to her she ran her fingers through his fur, first stroking the top of his silky head and down into the ruff of his neck. She wanted to keep petting him but her wolf wanted out to join his and wasn't about to wait any longer. Stepping back a bit she let the change flow over her. It wasn't as quick as his had been but the smoothness of it made up for any lack. The fur simply appeared and with it her wolf. Shaking her fur she padded back to Asa and had to look up. The top of her head barely reached his shoulder. She was used to looking up but this was a bit different. He wasn't one of her betas and as such making him roll over probably wouldn't happen unless he allowed her to top him.
She rubbed her body along his rubbing her scent all over his fur and taking his unique smell into her nose. She wouldn't forget it. With a small yip she took off into the brush.

It made him curious to see the size of her wolf versus the feel of it in his head. She was smallish but full of energy and he approximated a smile on his wolfish face. He romped with her careful to leave more than enough room for her to simply be as she was. He had to admit that he was pleased with what he saw both furry and fleshly. It was slightly uncharacteristic of him to be so unguarded but here alone in the wilds of the rotten apple it was just the two of them. He stopped scenting the wind insuring that was the case and aside from the two of them no one was near. So he did what he ever did he pulled a portion of his power his aura into himself doing so made his own size smaller it was as if he condensed most of what he had folding it in on itself. He shrunk two thirds of himself so that while still large he was easier to confuse with a nonpreternatural beast.
Catching scent of prey he flicked his gaze from Jez to the stag crossing the flat unaware that there were monsters afoot. He salivated but held the urge in check. It was a test of himself and her.
