She asked him to not stop and he wouldn’t as he plumbed her depths once more he felt more than heard Abel slam the breaks shift, the wheel turning the car and calling out. The first and second were to minimize the damage of the crash the second was a call to arm. Samuel sunk himself home wrapping his arms around her pulling her into him as he braced with his left. The shock from the crash might break or strain him but he was better suited for the impact than allowing her to absorb the brunt. As the car careened and bounced he held himself as hard and rigid as if he were made of something far more than flesh.
Time slowed to her breath and her racing heartbeat. His eyes flooded leonine as the motion of the car slowed. He snatched at his pants fastening them as he measured her breathing as he looked over her searching for sources of pain. He didn’t need to say anything as she was an officer of the law she knew what needed to be done. She however had her protocol and he had his.
"Stay under cover." He said as he eased from the cars passenger door. Abel had been knocked around but he was moving. Which was the point. What they didn’t know was how badly he was hurt nor his stamina. As such he dropped across the seat and began loading the glock seventeen he kept for such purposes. He also hit the distress beacon hidden under the seat. Samuel knew that their time was limited. Luckily he stayed in the furry closet. Channeling the beast in his chest he blurred to the blocking car as they would be the most likely active. He was right. They were already leaving the vehicle. Three men armed with baseball bats.
If he was a forgiving man he would have laughed at the lengths to which they’d gone only to bring bats.

She'd gone from the heights of pleasure to the literal crash of pain. He had indeed taken the brunt of it but her neck hurt some and there would be some bruising mostly around her thighs and hips where shed been wrapped around him holding on. Pants retrieved and donned she reached for her back up piece and badge in her bag. Then used her cell to call in the non accidental accident advising them to approach with caution as she didn't know if the men were armed.
Popping her head up safely in the door using him as cover she took in the situation, the men with bats had to be on something or not know who or what he was she was betting both. She was a cop a good one but there was a very strong urge to shoot each of them in a knee or arm for ruining her night. Looking for the second car and seeing it the men in it looked a bit worse for wear but when you hit another car prepared or not there was hurt to be expected.
Sliding out and down the door away from samuel he had to know she wasn't going to just sit by and look cute till her colleagues got there. Staying low she made it to the other car stabbing a hole in the tires on her side. They weren't getting away, when one man tried to get out to flank and add numbers he found a gun to his crotch and her whispering " back in the car "
Badge flashed his eyes went wide because they had expected the target to be alone what was a detective doing with him? He sat fast and she kept the gun on him he kept the others in the car with a look. The boss was not gonna like this not one bit it was supposed to be a simple crash and beating then them all leave. Now the cops and who ever else was called was on their way and things had gone severely sideways for the men in the cars.

Moving with a speed he was sure would cost him an arm and a leg in bribes later he dispatched th three men in quick succession. Even under the best circumstances and the element of surprise they wouldn’t have been able to do more than fall to Samuel’s anger. He was midway through insuring that the driver would need several months of therapy as he looked towards Monica she was handy, competent and her own white knight. It made him smirk at the thought of it.
He’d heard her calling in the issue. So he needed to be elsewhere. Cops didn’t believe in coincidence. Once was all the ties they’d take the two of them being in the same location. However there was the matter of Abel he was moving and the men were on their way yet explaining things would prove prickly. He wouldn’t put her in that situation by choice yet. That would have to be the case. If he stayed it would be career suicide for her and he wouldn’t leave her without the at times considerable protection of the NYPD.
Slipping his phone from his pocket he moved away into the growing crowd. He sent her a text just as a faceless few rushed his car and removed Abel and her things. ‘You were on the scene and were nearly struck by the stolen vehicle. A report is being done at the 202 to support that angle when you are free come to me.’ Taking the offered coat and baseball hat he donned glasses moving further out of sight as Abel was helped into one of the fleet of vehicles to be taken to their doctor for an examination. The man would balk at leaving his side but he wouldn’t have a hidden injury laying him low later. He would stay and watch as wella scataloguing the cameras that could have caught a glimpse. He would have the surveillance recordings within twenty minutes well ahead of the cops that would go looking for them.

She couldn't blame him and was glad hed thought so quick, watching where he'd been but hearing the sirens she glared at the men in the car. When the first black and white got there he gave them the story he'd texted her flawlessly having already erased it from her phone. They pulled up the info and ran the id of everyone present getting a few warrants for assault and one for fraud now car theft would be added since none of them wanted to speak to who drove.
They checked her for injuries seeming glad to find very little, then releasing her to go home after she signed her reports. Soft sigh she didn't think he'd go back to his office and maybe this was a sign the night was done. She'd tell him she was home safe and rest then take life from there when she got up.

Matthew had been working angles, hitting up CI’s, and beating bushes that many Detectives didn’t know existed. He had crawled down the rabbit hole and pulled all of the light in behind him. As a mere human he was able to ease alongside preternaturals that while they knew he was coming but not why. It was wonderfully freeing, scaring as hell, and as insane as he was dedicated. It was some of the most foolish things he’d done since he’d gained his detectives shield. Yet he wouldn’t try sending anything up the flagpole without all of his I’s dotted and T’s crossed. That meant sticking his neck out farther than his vertebrae would normally allow. It meant opening himself up to darkness in himself, darkness that he kept firmly locked away.
It also meant being extraordinarily paranoid. He was dodging cops, crooks, and beings that could lift cars like most people lifted the next can of beer. He was right out there on the hairy bleeding edge. As such he kept his ears to the ground. He was shocked to hear over the wire that Detective Davis was involved with a hit that he’d heard floating on the streets. He left the hotel where he’d holed up dropping his cover identity and hopping in the car he rarely drove. The engine roared to life like some wild beast. He gripped the wheel with a death grip and tore off flicking on the scanner to catch details of the situation. She was fine but injured. Not seriously but enough that an injury report was filed.
He arrived at her house in record time especially considering he was coming from Far Rockaway. He tried her door knocking receiving no answer he waited in his car watching her door. As she came down the block he got out of his car. Dressed as he was he knew it would be better to call out to her so he did. “Hey! Davis got a sec?”

He was smart to call out because she was tense already and would have probably round housed anyone that had just come at her, still on alert. She stopped and turned to look at him head tilted he was the last person she'd expected to be there. " Sure whats up?"
Trying to keep relaxed pose because anything else hed notice and want to pry. She hoped he was there to maybe ask her out or something because it would be easier to handle then him trying to find out about what he may have heard recently, she didnt know why he was here but it didnt seem far fetched he'd had heard about the accident. Deep breath and really hoping to get rid of him fast she wanted to message Samuel. Lip licked then trying to give a friendly smile all of that internal conversation had happened in the blink of an eye.
He looked a bit diffrent and she remembered hed been out of the office recently shed just thought hed had some vacation time or something. Maybe thats what this was maybe hed come to tell her bout his trip but some how she knew that wasn't it.

Matt watched as she moved from wanting to rip his head off to wanting him gone. He ignored it he could tell that she had been through a lot. Her hair was slightly disheveled her clothes were not but there was a wear around her eyes. All in all she wasn’t chasing the same demons he was but she had been doing something that had her heart rate up." You look a little worse for wear. You gonna take tomorrow off?"
He knew it was a lame way to start a conversation but as he was pretty sure she wanted to get into her place and hide form the world awhile he was slow pitching her as a way to give her an out without offering one. “If you are and have a sec I could run down what I found on my dive back into the UC cesspool. I would warn you its worse than we thought.”
There the come on pitch was out there. She would either bite or she would run there wasn’t much else as for options went. He wasn’t in deep enough to back to not be able to back off; However he was far enough in to not want to. He had invested the last few weeks with some grade A deep cover back of beyond hustling, finding out far too much to simply walk away.

She bit her lip and looked at him, he was offering her an in on what they were supposed to be working on but part of her wanted to back off incase she needed an out. That accident had almost been a disaster of epic proportions and some where deep inside she was still sort of turned on. It felt wrong to be talking to him and randomly also thinking about how Samuel felt when they were entwined.
Mentally kicking herself he was observant she could not afford to be slipping around him. " know a good place for coffee this late Im out upstairs and have a feeling wed need some with this conversation."
She also didn't like anyone in her place it was her sanctuary but she wasn't rude enough to just tell him he wasn't invited in. Her mother had taught her better then that. Biting at her bottom lip and shifting on her feet she was thinking now about a warm bath because the soreness of the accident was starting to kick in feeling banged up a bit. She wouldn't show it though she would suck it up and hide it till she was out of sight and locked behind her door.

Matt didn’t know her well enough to really know her tells but some things were nearly universal. He saw the ache in her as she moved and the slight tilt of her head away from her place. She didn’t want anyone in her place he couldn’t blame her. He didn’t let anyone know where he actually lived including One PP. As far as they were concerned he was at a residence that in fact only served as his mail drop. He checked his mail there once a week when he could but otherwise he was only a tenant in name. Some habits were hard to break and his distrust of others was one of them. Even now as he was preparing to open that door a crack more than he had ever he kept himself guarded.
He took her in adding things together to form a picture that he couldn’t decipher just yet. Ignoring it he smiled taking off his skully and pushing his hood back from his head. "I do. But its clear across town. We can set up on your stoop or in my car if you want. Though if I was as sore as you seem I’d want a bath, my couch, and maybe a blanket. Coffee not so much its late and I plan on getting as much sleep as I can before I am back in the office tomorrow."
He looked towards car that was definitely not an unmarked squad or anything from the fleet. He gave her time to decide as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his vest. He knew what he looked like and what her neighbors might think if they were seen. He looked like one of the block boys. From his Tim’s up to his black jeans to his black hoodie and dark brown vest. He definitely looked the part he’d been living for the last few weeks.

That earned him a smirk and she just shrugged " stoop it is then"
Settling on her stairs and waiting for him to settle and then pushing her hair out of her face. Looking him over and taking notice of the clothes she didn't think he dressed like that off duty and put two and two together. Most people didnt pay any mind to who she spoke to but she understood the need for discretion.
" so whats new with you and fill me in because I've kinda been a bit busy with getting ready for the convention in new orleans"
She wondered if hed be going to that or not, might not if he was undercover like she suspected.

Sitting on her stoop he scanned the street from force of habit. He spotted the same sedan that had been parked when he pulled up. It wasn’t running but he could swear someone was in the driver’s seat. It wasn’t odd to se people sleeping in their cars but it as odd all the same. He pushed it out of his head for a second. He did sit move a hair as to keep the car in his line of sight without making it obvious. He was sure she’d made the car as well as tinted windows automatically tickled a cops radar. “I’m not sure about the conference especially as I used up most of my PTO on these last few weeks. But what I know is almost worth it."
Clearing his throat he eased his hands out of his pockets and leaned forward some. “I can see by your less than pleased look that you know I went off book to dig some things up. I found what I think is the zero point for this outbreak. And funny you mention New Orleans. Supposedly some vampire form New Orleans is behind this. Everyone I’ve spoken with says the suppliers they dealt with are all from there.”
“Oh and the city has a new Master vampire some busybody out of Chicago. It’s not official as far as the rest of the city is concerned but the Kiss is in an uproar. And it will only get worse, which won’t help us at all."

She glanced where he did but didn't let on she recognized the vehicle type and who might be behind the wheel. Though it relaxed her some that even tho he couldn't be there he still worried over her. Kind of sweet in a vaguely stalker kinda way. Looking back to her sort of partner " It normally doesn't count for pto because its considered continuing education and needed for us to do our job to be on top of all the latest supernatural news and techniques through net working with other squads"
Yes she was a bit mad at him for not telling her but in a way she understood she wasn't his mother or even officially his partner but she could have ruined cover had they gotten caught in contact through official channels. Even as it was if who ever he was on to was smarter then most he could be in trouble but most dealers were small potatoes and this wasn't local for the most part so when he said most of the ties led back to Nola she wasn't totally surprised.
" two birds with one stone and you could even still go as you are as you could do it to check out the source quote un quote"
She was trying to get him to understand that either way he was probably looking at a road trip undercover or other wise.

Matt didn’t like the sedan but as Monica spotted the car and ruled it out he would have to trust her as well. He wasn’t sure exactly what made him think she had ruled it out but something about the slight smirk and flash of brow made it seem as such. Again he knew it was too early into knowing her to make any concrete assumptions but some tells were nearly universal. “That’s a good thing as I doubt otherwise I’d be able to head down there. But you look tired I’ve kept you up long enough you have all of the big news plus I was able to see that you aren’t banged up to badly. Though you still seem flushed. Are you taking tomorrow off?"
Punctuating his statement he stood stretching as he did. He would have made time to stay longer if they’d been inside but a stoop conversation wasn’t the place for anything but the broadest strokes. Especially as they more than likely had watchers or at least one. He was willing to bend her ear more later but for now he needed to maybe compile everything he’d found out backing it up and setting up a few more safe drops just in case he’d crossed the radars of anyone who was paying attention. He didn’t think he had but better prepared than dead and wishing.
Had he just thought that, yeah he had. He knew he wasn’t too paranoid not in the least but the idea was strangely a little too big to ignore. This seemed far too big of a thing to be easily managed by one police force. He hoped this would be far more successful than the war on drugs otherwise there’d be a new sort of crackhead to deal with as if vampires weren’t problematic enough all on their own.

"you know if I do I will never hear the end of it ..ya going soft now hero? Face down automatic weapons but one little car crash keeps ya home"
She did a near perfect impression of Officer Degillio who liked to bust her chops a lot almost to the point of being a major douche. She would need to sleep tho and when she stood she heard a crack on her back and groaned. Then watched him prepare to leave "Keep your head on straight and your ears open come back In one piece or I will commence to kicking your tail got it?"
She meant it as a way of saying she cared enough to worry if he got hurt but not enough to get all mushy on him or have him think she was flirting or something. Then she sighed " night man Imma go bathe and sleep n stuff Dont forget what I said bout nola"
She turned giving one last look to the car he was in and then a quick glance to the sedan and then heading up the stairs at a loping but sore sprint with her bag slung over her shoulder. Bath sounded incredibly good right then.
